Parallax’s Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
COVID-19 may look like a fairly innocuous Jira ticket, but in the space of a few weeks it’s moved from relative obscurity to the forefront of our minds as it’s spread across the globe. Coronavirus, as it’s more commonly known, is an ever-increasing threat to public health, and is unfortunately here to stay for a number of months.
Governments have a responsibility to act, and are cautiously & continuously awaiting scientific guidance and upgrading their severity levels accordingly. Businesses have a responsibility to act too, as they are responsible for the whereabouts of large swathes of the population.
Our response
On the day that the UK moves to the next stage of its strategy, we’ve decided it’s important to clarify that we’re taking the threat very seriously – we’ve conducted a survey of each of our staff members’ capacity for remote working, purchased extra hardware for those who need it and ensured everyone can connect to our internal networks via our VPN.
Knowing how to respond next is a tricky balancing act; it’s important to be measured in our approach, and based on the research we’ve been doing we believe the next logical step is to put our remote working capacity to the test with a full day on Monday 16th March, so we’re ready to act as news progresses.
Our ability to work
Should we move to remote working until the pandemic passes, we do not anticipate our clients being affected as our work is almost entirely digital and we will be doing our best to make use of video-conferencing tools to conduct internal and client meetings.
We’re very much open for business and encourage you to get in touch if you have any questions.
