Leeds is home to a number of digital agencies and an exciting tech scene. Being a full-service agency that handles everything from web development and design through to digital marketing, we’ve always got our eyes peeled for relevant events and meetups.
Luckily, the city is never short on the kind of occasions suitable for networking with like-minded people, grabbing a drink and learning a thing or two along the way. Here’s our round-up of the best digital events in Leeds this November.
Leeds Digital Drinks – Every Friday
Leeds Digital Drinks is a casual post-work knees up for anyone interested in tech, creative and start-up culture. Amazed by the sheer amount of digital talent in Leeds, the chaps behind LDD saw an opportunity for us all to meet up on a regular basis. So head to Headrow House any Friday this month to talk all things digital.
Drupal Yorkshire – Thursday 17 November
Drupal Yorkshire is a monthly workshop that supports digital managers, designers, developers and product owners with all things Drupal using group discussions, speakers and tutorials. Eli Ward from NWDUG is this month’s speaker, who’ll be giving you the lowdown on using migrate to ‘Get Your Bits In D8’.
WordPress Leeds: WooCommerce Special – Tuesday 22 November
A monthly meet up for WordPress users, bloggers and developers. November’s edition of WordPress Leeds is a special one, with two talks from Senior Developer and WooCommerce expert Dave Green.
Parallax Hack Day – Wednesday 23 November
Every few months we take a day away from client work to get stuck into personal projects. Hack Days are always fun and we’ve made some pretty cool stuff stuff in the past, like our Alan Partridge sample text generator, an SVG map tutorial and most recently our award winning game Topple Trump. This will be our fourth and final Hack Day of the year. It’s open to everyone too, so if you want to get involved drop us a line. (There’s a free lunch in it for you).
Glug Leeds: The Careers Clinic – Thursday 24 November
This is Glug’s end of year event – and it’s a biggie! In addition to the usual awesome Glug talks, the afternoon will see a careers clinic, with two boards of people from local creative businesses and educational institutions providing genuine insights and advice around positions on the job market and courses available in the area.
Ladies of Code – Tuesday 29 November
Two questions – are you a lady and do you code? If so, then get yourself down to the Ladies of Code meet up. Taking place at Leeds latest digital hub – Future Labs – Ladies of Code will be enjoying their third event with lightning talks, pair programming and pizza. Pizza is always good.
Leeds International Film Festival – 3 November to 17 November
Not strictly part of the digital scene, but worth a mention nonetheless. Leeds International Film Festival returns once again for another two weeks of world class cinema. If you’ve never been before you’re truly missing out. Taking place in multiple venues across the city, attendees are spoilt for choice with a medley of the best in independent and world cinema.
