James Hall to speak at Hey!Stac digital event - August 19th
We’re incredibly happy to announce that our very own James Hall will be speaking once again at Hey!Stac on August 19th at The Belgrave, Leeds as part of their newly launched Lectures.
Following his previous talks at Hey!Stac on cryptography and the dangers of wireless networks, James will be putting together his thoughts on the business value of open source software. He’ll be chatting about his experience of using open source, its benefits, opinions on licensing and why he’s a big fan of it. Expect a bit of information on his very own jsPDF and vtop software, amongst some other interesting discussions.
So what actually is Hey!Stac?
In case you’re new to the concept of Hey!Stac, it’s a monthly digital event in Leeds curated by Josh Nesbitt. Hey!Stac is an informal event where those working in the development and digital industries share their knowledge through various talks and discussions. The event provides the perfect platform for people to get together and talk about some of the most exciting, cutting edge technology around. Each event has around three speakers, roughly presenting for around 15 minutes with plenty of time for Q&As.
This summer also saw the introduction of the new event known as Lectures. Lectures will be less frequent than the usual Hey!Stac talks, however they’ll be more focused on interviews between two people, with more time for the audience to ask questions in advance.
It’s a great atmosphere where people can get to know each other, talk shop, and most importantly, have some fun! Not forgetting the well stocked bar that’s always available.
Who else is speaking on the 19th of August?
As well as Parallax’s James Hall, there’ll also be a talk from Rabbit Hole who will be discussing digital marketing for the music industry. Rabbit Hole are a creative agency based in Leeds that have worked with some amazing clients including deadmau5, Kylie Minogue, EMI and Warner Music. We’ll get to hear how the company started, business opinions from the founders, and a multitude of stories from throughout their exciting journey.
