Parallax and Orange Digital Launch AWS Leeds User Group
Parallax are proud to announce the launch of a brand new official Amazon Web Services user group in Leeds, co organised by our friends at Orange Digital.
Join us on Wednesday 30th July
With the digital scene in Leeds growing every day and more and more developers and agencies using AWS products, we felt that it was the right time to establish a local community.
We’ll be running events that are focussed on hands-on labs, talks and discussions around best-practice implementation across the AWS offering. If you’re a cloud specialist within your organisation, an eager developer or think it would be suitable then get involved. We welcome all abilities, however do be prepared to get in-depth. We can all share knowledge and experience, learn about how it can be used in different ways, as well as much more on a regular basis.
We’re also still in the process of setting the topic for the first session. We’d really like you to help us choose what you’d like to discuss, so please head over to this form and tell us what you’re interested in. Once we’ve gathered some feedback, we’ll post some further information on the event, including speaker.
We’ll be hosting the first of many events at the Parallax offices in the centre of Leeds, here’s how the first event will run:
The Schedule (Approximated Times)
6:00pm – Quick hello and welcome. There will be some nibbles and some drinks. Talk amongst yourselves, make some new friends.
6:30pm – Intro talk on chosen topic. What is it, how does it work, why do we use it.
6:45pm – Hands-on guided lab on chosen topic. We’re intending that instead of just hearing about the wonderful things that someone else has done with AWS, we actually put together some labs on a topic that let you produce something tangible with your new-found knowledge in the session.
The idea of the guided labs is that they let everyone learn from each other and build something that functions on a basic level while following best-practice in terms of implementation.
We will have around 20 macs available to use for these sessions, however do please feel free to bring your own PC/Mac/Linux/whatever along.
8:30pm – Networking
9:00pm – Close
