Content Marketing Showcase Part V

After a few months off, we’ve decided to add a new Content Marketing showcase to the blog. With the content marketing buzz growing every day and an ever growing amount of businesses throwing budget at it, the work coming out at the moment is pretty amazing.

Here are three examples of some of the great content marketing that we’ve seen over the past few months:

McDonald’s My Burger

McDonald’s are the masters of creating amazing content. This time, they’ve gone all out creating a fantastic ‘My Burger’ interactive web app where visitors can build their own burger. By choosing the ingredients that they desire including the bun, cheese, meat, sauce, salad, onion and more, they then give it a name and submit it to the gallery. Visitors to the website can then vote on their favourite in the gallery. 12 of the burgers with the highest amount of votes will go to McDonald’s test kitchen where their chefs will pick five winning burgers to go on sale in restaurants for five weeks.

The website itself is impressive and has a great user interface. It has really clear calls to action alongside some clever in built social sharing buttons. It also has an impressive ticker across the bottom of the page displaying how many votes have been cast, how many are packing a particular ingredient and much more. Kudos McDonald’s, you’ve nailed your content strategy again.

Watch out for the burger police though. If you make your burger too gross or give it a ridiculous name, they’ll remove it from the gallery.

Project TP from Cheetos

Okay, this one may be a few months old but it’s still incredibly impressive. Cheetos have gone all out with ‘Chester’s Project TP – A digital toilet paper takeover of the world’ interactive piece and it’s one of the best we’ve seen to date. Upon arrival on the website, users enter an address of their choice. The website then uses Google Maps Street View to show the selected choice and the visitor ‘confirms the target’ where Chester will cover the address with toilet roll from his helicopter.

It’s as crazy as it sounds, but it’s also developed especially well. Sharing is easy; Cheetos have made users able to share the address that they’ve TP’d across social media, as well as the website itself. To date, it’s had over 58,000 likes on Facebook and thousands of Tweets, it’s been a resounding success.

World Baking Day

Sponsored by Stork, World Baking Day was held on Sunday 18th May as a way of letting someone you know how much you care. Stork created an extraordinary, highly interactive website promoting the event and why you should get involved with World Baking Day, featuring tasty sounding recipes, powerful imagery, beautiful flat design and a lot more.

One of the most exciting features about the World Baking Day website are the interactive games that they have developed. From throwing cookies across the table for the kids, to baking cakes for parents to say thanks for all of the help (and financial support) the games are created really well. With CTAs across the website that encourage users to ‘Pledge to bake’ featuring ecards that can be shared across social media to loved ones stating “I’m baking for you”, it’s an amazingly engaging experience.

Businesses are hiring digital agencies across the world to create unique content for them and the above are just a few of the amazing things that we’ve seen recently. What amazing stuff have you seen lately? We’d love to see some more amazing interactive pieces. Say hello on Twitter or leave us a comment below.
