The Web Tools Parallax Can't Wait To Use in 2014
With 2013 drawing to a close and 2014 knocking at the door, we’ve been having a think about everything we’ve achieved in 2013. From releasing an iOS app that allows you to lock and unlock a car, to a revolutionary production music library, to a beautiful responsive site for a world famous cricket club; we’ve had an unbelievable year.
Throughout the process of building these apps and websites, our digital agency has used a huge amount of tools to get the jobs done. Whether it’s helping to manage how a project is running, a framework to aid build process, or an automated application that tests websites before launch, we’re constantly using technology to help our business.
But what are we looking forward to using in 2014? As a growing digital agency in Leeds, we’re always on the hunt for the next tool or app to help us step up to the next level in creating great experiences for our clients.
Here at Parallax, some of the team have put together a few things that we’re looking forward to using in 2014.
Barnaby Cotter
Web Developer
“When using HTML, it can often be limited when we try to use it for declaring dynamic views in web-applications. In a nutshell, AngularJS lets you extend HTML vocabulary for your application resulting in an environment that is expressive, readable and quick to develop.
As our digital agency takes on more and more ambitious javascript-heavy projects, it’s important to keep our front-end development clean, streamlined and testable. AngularJS makes this very easy and lets you apply a lot of ‘back-end’ principles to front-end development.
AngularJS will be something that Parallax will look at using heavily in 2014.”
Robin Swire
Content Manager
“More and more clients are asking Parallax to help them with their online PR and digital marketing. The search engines are changing and online PR is becoming pivotal in the success of a business online. However, many journalists and blogs are getting tired of the hundreds of outreach emails they receive on a daily basis.
Muckrack is a great tool to discover and find relevant journalists and bloggers allowing you to pitch the right content to the right person. Its handy web app allows you to search by keywords, company name, competitor types and much more making it easier to get your ideas heard by the right ears.
It works well for journalists too as they’re able to showcase all of their work in one place, grow their social presence and avoid generic PR spam hitting their inboxes.
It’s a really clever tool and every digital agency will need to start thinking about using tools such as this in the future.”
Tom Faller
Project Manager
“Ghostlab is a tool that allows you to test local web projects across multiple clients. With a huge proportion of web users visiting sites on their mobile devices, it’s essential that they have a great experience.
Here at Parallax, we’re developing responsive websites more and more frequently and testing these can be quite challenging. Ghostlab allows us to set up multiple devices at once so that we can easily test sites on a variety of browsers and see if there are any errors across devices. We’re currently in the process of setting up a device lab; we’ll keep you posted on it!”
Aran Wilkinson
Web Developer
“Laravel is a web application framework designed to build modern web applications. Its expressive and elegant syntax make the development process fast, enjoyable and creative. Laravel’s elegant syntax and ease of use helps users to produce cleaner, more readable and scalable code.
Lots of the work that Parallax produces for our clients leads to more complex work in the future with new features and further development. Using a tool such as Laravel will allow us to easily expand any previous work and add the new modern features our clients expect from websites.
Can’t wait to get going with it!”
