Catwalk for Cancer Research at the Corn Exchange in Leeds
This Thursday a special event hosted by the Leeds Corn Exchange and Cancer Research will be taking place. Fashion stores will be hosting a fashion show catwalk in aid of Cancer Research. Tickets are available on the night and cost £5 and £10 for VIPs – there will also be a number of discounts at the stores in the Corn Exchange on the night.
We’re a charitable bunch and will be going to offer our help. I will be doing photography and Dario will be there with one of our clients, Jim from Maze helping where I can. You’ll see the models sporting Snapshot Media and Maze T-Shirts later in the night.

FOUR WOMEN who have survived cancer will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk alongside more than forty models at a special charity fashion event in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Taking place at Leeds Corn Exchange on the evening of Thursday 19 April, ‘Catwalk for life’, will see an eclectic mix of Leeds Corn Exchange’s independent boutiques showcasing their spring/summer collections to raise money for research into cancer.
Sharing the limelight with professional models are four women who have themselves been though cancer, including Leanne Mannifield of Wakefield.
Two and a half years ago, Leanne, 37, was diagnosed malignant melanoma, the more serious form of skin cancer. While seven and a half months pregnant with her second child, she noticed that a freckle under her right breast had become larger and had turned black in colour.
Doctors thought it was down to her expanding tummy, but shortly after Lydia was born in April 2009, tests showed that it was skin cancer. A week later Leanne had surgery to remove the mole and surrounding tissue, leaving her with 40 stitches. She didn’t need any further treatment, but today still needs to attend hospital for regular checkups.
Fair skinned and blonde, Leanne had regularly used sunbeds in her twenties, and the doctors told her they were over 90 per cent sure this was the cause of cancer.
Leanne, who loves fashion, is really excited to be part of Catwalk for Life. “I really want to get the message out to other young women that you don’t have to be tanned to be fashionable and that you need to really look after yourself if you go in the sun. I never thought that going on a sunbed would lead to cancer. If I hadn’t have been pregnant I might not have noticed the change in my freckle and I might not have been here to celebrate her third birthday.”
